Forklift Brake Master Cylinder & Wheel Cylinder Selection Guide

Forklift Brake Master Cylinder & Wheel Cylinder Selection Guide

Compare bore, stroke, mounting, pushrod and hydraulic connections—not only the casting shape. A master cylinder and a wheel cylinder perform different jobs and require different identification.

22673-72041-L left wheel-cylinder reference. Confirm side, bore, ports and installation before ordering.

A master-cylinder reference is the first identifier

1N63-516000-00 is an existing Hangcha master-cylinder reference. Its bore, pushrod length, mounting dimensions and port thread are not measured from this photograph.

Master cylinder, wheel cylinder or assisted unit?

Establish the cylinder’s job, internal bore and mounting arrangement before narrowing the replacement. Next compare stroke, pushrod or shoe-actuation ends, port thread, sealing seat and fluid-compatible design. Keep the final acceptance tied to the installed side and port/bleeder direction, the truck’s brake or axle identity and any documented cross-reference—not the casting outline.

Measure the correct interfaces
Cylinder type Bore / actuation Mounting and linkage Hydraulic connections
Master cylinder Exact internal bore and effective stroke Hole centres, pilot, pushrod length, end/clevis and attachment Outlet count, thread and seat, reservoir arrangement and fluid-compatible design
Wheel cylinder Exact bore and shoe-actuation ends Backing-plate geometry, mounting and installed side Inlet and bleeder position/thread; left/right if specified
Assisted / boosted master unit Full assembly configuration and actuator relationship Complete assembly mounting and linkage Separate circuit/fluid requirements where relevant

Why a catalogue drawing is more useful than a body measurement

ZF MICO’s off-highway range includes master, slave and wheel cylinders. Its technical selection separates bore, effective stroke, fluid type, pushrod, mounting and port configuration. These are matching fields, not dimensions that can be assigned to every forklift cylinder.

Bore is the internal piston diameter—not the outside casting diameter. Mounting-hole centres, overall length and pushrod length have different endpoints. Obtain a drawing or qualified-service record rather than dismantling a brake cylinder to prepare an inquiry.

Left and right are not interchangeable descriptions

22673-72041-L is the existing HELI left wheel-cylinder reference. Keep the suffix and installed side. No interchangeable right-hand reference is inferred.

Existing left-side reference; bore, threads and serial applicability need confirmation.

Similar casting, different brake operation

Checks before an alternative is accepted
Compare Reason
Bore and stroke Different dimensions can change hydraulic displacement and actuation
Pushrod end and length Linkage geometry and attachment must agree
Thread and sealing seat A similar thread does not establish the correct hydraulic seal
Fluid-compatible design Seal and system-fluid requirements must match the manufacturer specification
Inlet / bleeder orientation Position and installed side affect the correct assembly
Cross-reference evidence A different number stays unverified until a documented relationship is established

Send identification, not a long questionnaire

The old reference, truck model/serial and clear cylinder photos are enough to begin. If available, add axle/brake identity, installed side and a drawing or measured mounting/port details. Unknown bore or stroke may remain to confirm.

For close-ups, show the label, each port and sealing face, mounting holes and pushrod ends. Do not operate a truck with unresolved braking faults or open the hydraulic circuit for an inquiry.

Ask about the part you need

A part number is optional. Send it if you have it, or choose the identification route that fits your information. No technical field below is required.
