Forklift Solenoid Valve and Coil Selection: Voltage, Bore and Valve Function

A replacement coil and a complete valve are different purchases. Identify the coil’s electrical and stem interface separately from the valve’s hydraulic function, ports and mounting.

First identify what is being replaced

Keep these component identities separate in a quotation request.

The same voltage can belong to different coil families

Initial current and power describe the manufacturer’s stated condition; they must not be relabelled as universal hot-coil values. Connector and suppression options also matter: for example, HydraForce identifies its DR connection as Deutsch DT04-2P. Record any diode marking and verify polarity against the vehicle wiring.

A valve function has more detail than “normally closed”

HydraForce SV08-20 is a two-way, normally closed poppet cartridge for cavity VC08-2. Its published flow description distinguishes the two port directions: de-energised, port 2 to 1 is blocked while port 1 to 2 has a check function. This example shows why a hydraulic symbol and numbered ports are more useful than a generic “on/off valve” description. When energized, port 2 to 1 opens, while port 1 to 2 is severely restricted.

For a replacement, send the valve code or hydraulic symbol, port markings and the function it controls—such as lift, lower, tilt or an attachment circuit. Do not infer a cavity size, thread or flow direction from the coil family number.

A complete valve photograph is not a coil specification

If this is the type of assembly you need, quote the complete number and provide the old valve’s port and connector views. If you need only a coil, say so explicitly and include its own markings.

Measure the interface without guessing the specification

For a coil-only order, begin with its full code and AC/DC supply; for a valve order, begin with the valve or assembly code and required hydraulic function. Follow with the relevant bore/stem and electrical connection, or cavity, seals, ports and mounting. Before accepting the candidate, resolve the coil/valve pairing, polarity and circuit flow direction for that exact assembly; a shared voltage or coil-family number is not the final match.

  • Coil: capture its full code, AC/DC voltage, power marking, connector and suppression marking.
  • Mechanical fit: record the bore, overall height, installed stem length and retaining arrangement from a drawing or safely accessible removed part. A coil family number is not a bore measurement.
  • Cartridge: provide the valve code, cavity or thread reference and seal option where known.
  • Complete valve: add the hydraulic symbol, port labels, mounting pattern and function of each section.
  • If access requires dismantling a pressurised system, send the available labels and photos first and leave further work to qualified service personnel.
